Regional Producers Market

Posted: Sunday, 19 September 2010 by Robyn Funston

The weekend was a busy one for the chocolate makers - Robyn travelled to Melbourne to attend the Regional Producers Market at the Queen Victoria Market with a selection of our regional Rutherglen Wine Truffles and I went to the Sustainable Living Fair at Valhalla Wines in Wahgunyah. Both days were a great success but I could relax at the end of the day and poor Robyn had to get in the car to make the trip home. It was lovely to chat to some of our regular customers and to meet and make friends with new customers.

'Foolish' Ganache!

A good friend sent me this message and I think it is gorgeous and certainly worth sharing with you : 'When confused by the term ganache I googled the word and found it was French for “fool” and there followed a lovely wee story ....... “In French, the term “ganache” means fool. It is said that it originated from a mistake that a chocolatier’s apprentice made when he spilled cream into liquid chocolate that he was stirring. The chef called him “ganache.” But how fortunate it was for all of us that he made this mistake”. Ganache is of course the yummy filling that I make for our chocolate from couverture, cream and then all the secret bits.
