Melbourne Cup Day

Posted: Wednesday, 3 November 2010 by Robyn Funston

We had a lovely weekend in Rutherglen over Melbourne Cup Weekend.  Mind you, the weather wasn't great (actually the car park flooded again due to heavy rain) but we met so many new customers it was lovely.  Thanks for visiting the Couverture Room and enjoying watching Neil through the viewing window create pralines in the kitchen and tasting and buying some lovely treats.  Our garden is spectacular, due to all of the wonderful rain, here is a photo to share with you.

The highs to lows!!

One week we are all excited - we had a marvellous official opening - and the next we are flooded - boy did we choose the right week for our event!  We had have rain 4 weeks previous and our car park flooded but dried out just in time for the opening.  Then the week after we got heavy rain again and it flooded the shop and the factory.  We cleaned that up - dried up the floors but overnight the water crept up through the paddocks and when we woke up on the Sunday morning we had a new lake - in our car park!!  It is still flooded but customers are finding their way through - thankfully.
