Chocolate Tour - Brugge, Brussels and Basel

Posted: Friday, 15 June 2012 by Robyn

Neil and I are back from enjoying a fantastic holiday in Europe.  Our aim was to see what was going on in the chocolate scene on the other side of the world.

We saw some beautiful chocolates, but I am pleased to say that with our ability to make small hand made batches of pralines and truffles we are able to move outside of the restriction that they must feel by having to appeal to the masses.

There were a huge number of shops in Brugges, Belgium but after a while they all began to look the same.  Our next big chocolate stop was in Basel in Switzerland which is where these photos are from.....

Of course chocolates in Paris were great as was Brussels where we had a lovely time in a Neuhaus shop - the inventor of the praline.

We have come back with some ideas so come in soon and check out Renaissance Chocolates mocha beans.

Neil has his head down today making Rutherglen Wine Truffles for our local State Governemnt Minister - Tim McCurdy to take to 'show and tell' regional produce day at State Parliament next week - plus - 400 pralines filled with a glorious filling of Baileys of Glenrowan Topaque to appear at the Noosa Food and Wine Festival - how extraordinary!!  What wonderful support for a small business - thanks everyone XX
